Everton in the Community (EitC) Home is Where the Heart is

Home Is Where The Heart Is (HIWTHI) supports young people across Merseyside who are homeless or who are on the verge of homelessness through its residential house and extensive outreach initiatives across the region.

In 2018, Everton in the Community opened the doors of a four-bedroom house which provides semi-independent residential living for young adults who have fallen on hard times. The property was purchased through the programme’s sponsored fundraising campaign which raised close to a quarter of a million to buy and operate a house which resides in the heart of the L4 area.

Home Is Where The Heart also provides outreach support to young people across the region for those aged 16-23-years-old. Working with local organisations and authorities, the programme’s intervention is bespoke and centred around the individual’s needs to enable them to identify risks, build confidence, resilience and emotional coping strategies to enable positive choices to be safe and live independently.

The outreach service also provides an extra layer of support for the young people who move out of the Home Is Where The Heart Is house, supporting them to live independently, manage a tenancy and put all of the skills they have learnt in the house to good use.
