Local Offer - Being active & having fun

Everyone enjoys having a chance to have some fun. Whether that is a day out for all the family to enjoy, a place to relax with friends or a group with shared hobbies and interests. Here you will find information about leisure and social activities that are suitable for all the family, as well as those that are designed for disabled children and young people.

There are lots of mainstream or universal activities, groups and events that take place across Sefton as well as activities that are targeted to meet the needs of disabled children who may not be able to access every activity because of an additional need.

Dear Parent/carer

RE: Summer 2020 programme

I hope you and your family are well, and bearing up after nearly four months of this terrible, unprecedented situation.

There continues to be risk of Covid 19 spreading.  We ask that you remain at home if you or a member of your household has symptoms or has been advised to shield.

You may be worried about group sessions.  Young people can still mix and be occupied through Zoom online conferencing facility.  We have had some success with Zoom for our youth nights and musical theatre.  We will be looking to facilitate a range of activities virtually.  We will be grateful for your ideas and tips.  We are all learning as we go!

The Covid 19 pandemic has put all services, businesses and families under so much pressure that normal everyday life has been very difficult for many.  We are aware of the hopes for respite over summer particularly following months of prohibitive guidelines and lockdown.

It has been our priority over the past few weeks to attempt to put as much in place as possible for the Summer 2020 provision. A lot of the venues are still unavailable. This means we will not be able to provide as many sessions this year and due to logistics of transport etc we won’t be running any family days or trips.

We wish to have sessions running each Monday to Friday starting on Mon 3rd Aug. until Friday 28th Aug.

Sessions will be set in ‘Bubbles’ i.e. the same children and staff in that bubble throughout summer.

As we have not had the usual selection days I would appreciate it if you would let us know which days you would like your child to attend a session based at a school in your area. (Maximum 8 sessions, times vary), and what your fears and concerns may be.  As the provision is so limited we don’t want any cancellations. We will try to accommodate as many of your requests as possible, but cannot guarantee.

Please contact us as soon as possible on the email or telephone number below.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this matter, and ask you to reply to the email below or call the telephone number as soon as possible, bearing in mind we have only a few weeks to organise staff, resources and venues.
