Service update from the Continence Service in Sefton for Children & Young People (4-19 years)

November 2022.
Dear Colleague
We are writing to inform you of a few updates to our Sefton Continence Service.
From Friday 18th November 2022, we will no longer be accepting paper or telephone referrals. We would ask that you complete the attached referral form in full and email it to SeftonContinenceService@alderhey.nhs.uk.
We would also like to inform you that our Specialist Nurse Tracey will be retiring on 30th December 2022. She will be greatly missed here at Alder Hey and we wish her every happiness in her retirement. We are in the process of recruiting a Specialist Nurse to ensure that the service continues and in the interim, administrative staff from our Integrated Childrens’ Community Nursing Team will support parents with any queries regarding their child’s continence containment products.
As we will have an interim with no Specialist Nurse available, we will be unlikely to take on any new referrals after Friday 18th November 2022. This is to ensure that Tracey has ample time to liaise with parents and set the child up with any support that they need before she retires. Once we have a new Specialist Nurse in post, we will inform you and re-start our referrals service. Should you have a child who requires support in the interim, please complete the attached referral form in full and we will seek advice from other supporting clinicians in Alder Hey to see where we can support.
Before leaving, Tracey will be working hard to ensure that all current patients have enough supplies available. However, when Tracey has left, should a parent/guardian have any queries or issues with their consumables, we advise them to contact us via: SeftonContinenceService@alderhey.nhs.uk. This email in box will be monitored Monday to Friday.
Kind Regards
Sefton Continence Service and The Integrated Children’s Community Nursing Team.
