Sefton Parent Carer Forum

Sefton Parent Carer Forum - A parent carer forum is a group of parents and carers of disabled children who work with local authorities, education, health and other providers to make sure the services they plan and deliver meet the needs of disabled children and families.

In England there are parent carer forums in almost all local authority areas.

Forums usually have a steering group of parents who lead this work and listen to the views of other parents in the local area to make sure they know what is important to them. Forums are keen to hear from as many parent carers as possible.

Who can join a parent carer forum?
Parents or carers of a child with any type of additional need or disability are welcome to join.  Joining your forum does not mean you have to commit lots of time. In most forums you can join and receive information, and then decide if you want to get more involved at your own pace.

The forum represents the views of parents in the local area but does not advocate for individual families.

What we offer

We run workshops, information days and one day special events on a regular basis throughout the year.

Provide regular information to help increase parental knowledge via social media.

We attend meetings, forums and workshops to make sure parent carers’ voices and children’s needs are being heard at all levels within health, education and social care services.

We hold regular coffee mornings and craft sessions across Sefton where parents can meet, chat and get support.

We are based at Cambridge Family Well Being Centre Monday, Wednesdays, Fridays - Term time. Cambridge Road, Bootle, L20 9LQ.

We have fortnightly drop-ins in Southport. They will be in The Oak Room, Linaker Family Well being Centre, Linaker Street, Southport, PR8 5DQ. There will be a guest from Sefton services here once a month.

We are setting up a lending library for some children's books and some resource books for parent carers, there is a sign-up form to access it, books are held in Spcf Shared Space, Cambridge Road, Bootle.
