Southport Sailing Club
Based on the shores of the fantastic Marine Lake in Southport, we have a proud history dating back to the late 1950’s of providing outstanding facilities and sailing support for sailors of all abilities and experience.
Southport Sailing club now centres round a large and spacious clubhouse featuring all the amenities you would expect. There are changing rooms with toilets and showers, a well equipped galley and a large lounge and bar in which you can relax after sailing. Outside the club there’s a raised patio stepping down to a large flagged area stretching to the waters edge.
Behind the clubhouse is ample car parking and to the right a large hard standing where licensed boats can be kept. Security is provided by a locked gate onto the grounds and combination lock to the clubhouse. There is also full disabled access using a recently constructed ramp leading up to the clubhouse door.
As a friendly, community based club we welcome sailors from a wide range of backgrounds and skill levels, supporting everyone with top quality training, varied and busy sailing calendars and a great social environment
As well as an active racing scene there are lots of social events run throughout the year such as quiz nights, disco’s and of course the Commodores Reception. A particular favourite is the end of season prize giving evening or ‘Ted’s Night’ as we like to call it.
As well as social events at the club we also try to get away to other venues, and the yearly trip to Bassenthwaite Sailing club is always a popular event. Add to this a camping weekend in Ullswater and as you can see the club is as active today as it’s always been.
