Ainsdale Lunch and Leisure Club

ALL provides a welcoming facility which is available to the whole community. A wide range of activities are offered and we focus on health, wellbeing and social activities in order to reduce loneliness and isolation.

The Charity reduces  isolation amongst the vulnerable and elderly by providing a hot meal delivery service to the housebound within the local community. Historically we have provided a lunch club and we have further developed this into a community café where, in addition to the main meal of the day people can enjoy lighter options between 10.00am – 2 .00pm Monday, Wednesday & Friday.

Ainsdale Lunch and Leisure also gives support to unemployed people with learning difficulties. These volunteers are engaged in the preparation of meals and dining areas, serving the public and cleaning the kitchen areas. Engagement with the project gives opportunity for them to increase in confidence and to gain further interpersonal and organisational skills. The mutual support that is given not only helps the project  but assists these volunteers in feeling valued, giving them a sense of belonging and providing skills that they have used to enable them to remain in independent living.

Ainsdale Lunch and Leisure wish to be able to ensure that the project is able to provide the necessary advice and signposting to relevant and appropriate services. We have good links with a variety of forums and other services in order  to share information, e.g Sefton Pensioners Advocacy, Sefton Health Watch, Age Concern, Churches Together in Ainsdale and local Surgeries . Ainsdale Lunch and Leisure also have good links with the local Schools and welcome the opportunities that arise in working together.

With the on-set of Social prescribing Ainsdale Lunch and Leisure are well placed to continue the services it provides by developing and increasing links with the community it serves as well as with social and health services. It is anticipated through on-going development of these links that Ainsdale Lunch and Leisure will continue to develop as a community hub and be relevant for a range of ages and abilities both now and in the forseeable future.
