Litherland Youth & Community Centre

Litherland Youth and Community Centre (LYCC) have been providing activities and services for and with the local community on the current site since 1940. We engage with all members and ages of the community, we listen, we learn, and we facilitate activities and services that enable individuals and families to tackle inequalities and issues they may be experiencing in their lives.

We are a registered charity and limited company by guarantee.

YOUTH PROVISION - LYCC provide experienced, qualified youth workers and volunteers who directly work with young people, establishing positive relationships and encouraging their participation on learning programmes offering support and guidance to develop their social education. Staff use sports, ICT, arts & crafts, socialising, skills building and awards projects, health and wellbeing information and advice along with off-site trips and residentials to engage young people. Along with planning sessions that highlight local and national issues such as drug misuse, gun, gang, and knife crime using a range of group work, targeted work, and informal education.

In addition, LYCC also provide targeted project work, offsite activities, and trips and residentials during school holidays alongside the weekly youth offer.

  • Monday, 7pm-9pm = Seniors Year 7, 8 & 9 (age 12-14yrs) – Open access.

  • Tuesday, 6:30pm-8:30pm = Targeted; Peer Education / Awards Evening / Volunteer Night (all ages) - targeted project work, invite only per project.

  • Wednesday, 6:30pm-8:30pm = Under 13’s Year 5 & 6 (age 9-11yrs) – Open access.

  • Thursday, 7pm-9pm = Seniors Year 10 plus (age 15 yrs plus) – Open access.

  • Friday, 6:30pm-8:30pm – Under 13’s Year 6 & 7 (age 10-12yrs) – Open access.

  • Saturday, 10am-12pm = Under 10’s Year 4 & 5 (age 8-10yrs) – Open access.

OFSTED REGISTERED CHILDCARE / AFTER SCHOOL (age 5 – 13 yrs)Monday to Friday – collection from school and provision up until 5:45pm. 39 weeks per year in line with school Holidays. OFSTED registration covers for up to 40 children / young people to attend per session.  - £9 per session

OFSTED REGISTERED HOLIDAY PROVISION - 6 weeks childcare in-line with school holidays. Providing childcare for children and young people within Sefton. OFSTED registration covers for 40 children / young people to attend per session. - £20 Full Day / £10 Half Day

COMMUNITY SUPPORT – We have a specific staff member employed to lead and develop our Community Support in relation to Health and Wellbeing. Providing a range of support and partnership work with local councillors, other local organisations, local schools, and residents. Such things as emergency food relief, access to our community garden and facilities for families and residents, recycling of school uniforms, and clothing support and much more.

SENIOR LUNCHEON CLUB - Fridays, 11am-1pm – ages 55 pluslunch provided (soup, roll and a sweet treat / tea & coffee) – Along with opportunities to socialise, engage in chair exercises, quizzes, bingo, flower arranging - along with special guest from other local organisations. Staff also plan trips to various markets (Bury, Blackburn and Burnley) and have visited Liverpool and Southport. This session is also used to signpost individuals to other support organisations.

SOUTH SEFTON FOODBANK DISTRIBUTIONWednesday 11am-2pm - We are a member of South Sefton Foodbank providing a food distribution point every Wednesday. This session is also used to signpost individuals to other support organisations.

HIRE OF FACILITIES – LYCC also hire our facilities such as; Astro-turf, indoor sports hall, community areas and ICT suites. For further details please contact the centre. Please note that due to insurance restrictions we cannot hire our facilities for parties.
