Stage Door Theatre School

Established in 2005 by professional actress Emma Vaudrey, Stage Door Theatre School offers your child the opportunity to explore the Performing Arts in a safe and fun environment. We offer a number of varied classes for all ages and are also a LAMDA examination centre.

The classes we offer

Drama

Drama is an excellent way to develop your child’s confidence, imagination and self-expression. Learning new skills and meeting new friends in a safe and friendly environment your child will be taught the skills and technique required of a professional actor.

Your child will:

  • Improvisation
  • Movement and mime
  • Character development and Voice and Speech technique
  • Monologue/Dialogue/Group work
  • Devising skills
  • Festival and exam preparation
  • Show and presentation work

Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre classes are a great way to introduce your child to the joy of singing. Students will work on scenes and songs from a wide variety of the Musical Theatre repertoire and will be encouraged to develop their performance technique through song. At Stage Door, we hold an annual show which focuses heavily on Musical Theatre as it unites the three essential disciplines of Acting, Singing, and Dance.

Your child will:

  • Pitch, tone, rhythm and vocal range
  • Warm up exercises and breath control
  • Harmony
  • Dexterity and articulation
  • Performing the story of the song
  • Development of vocal technique
  • A variety of different musical genres and styles
  • Show and presentation work

Street Dance

Street dance is an energetic and fun packed popular class which is an excellent workout for your child. Students will learn various dance routines which incorporate differing street styles such as hip hop, locking, popping, funk and breaking. A relaxed but energetic class were pupils can express themselves physically and enjoy the music.

  • Posture and Flexibility
  • Warm up and toning
  • Various street styles and influences
  • Rhythm and musical timing
  • Floor work
  • Choreography and Routine work
  • Spatial awareness
  • Show and presentation work

Ballet

Ballet classes are an excellent way for your child to keep active as well as teaching them discipline

Film

Film and Acting for camera classes are an ideal opportunity for your child to gain experience in the art of cinematography and screen acting. They will develop an understanding of the more technical aspects of shooting a scene, whilst maintaining a focus on acting. The students will become familiar with the roles and responsibilities of a film crew and as actors, will get comfortable with the camera’s proximity! Especially to their faces!

The students will also learn about castings and auditions for film, television and commercials and learn how to improve their technique. They will discuss and explore how their own real emotional experiences can be channelled through the art of film.

Your child will:

  • Learning to operate and work with the use of a hand-held camera and camera equipment
  • Directing scenes and camera set-ups.
  • Preparing and working on monologues, dialogues and scenes from a range of television and film genres.
  • Building confidence as a performer and in particular as a screen performer.
  • Devising and writing film scripts and scenes.
  • Have fun with the camera
