RSPB - Marshside Nature Reserve
Marshside is a wetland nature reserve operated by the RSPB in the Marshside area of Southport, Merseyside, England. It lies 2 kilometres north of the centre of Southport, on the southern side of the Ribble estuary, and is part of the wider Ribble & Alt Estuaries Ramsar reserve. and the Ribble Estuary National Nature Reserve.
Internationally important wetland nature reserve. Facilities for public access and provision for bird watching. Opportunities for volunteers to get involved in all aspects of work, including conservation work, administration, public liaison and research.
This fantastic wetland site is located north of Southport town centre and has some of the best wildlife in the region, with amazing year round viewing opportunities. In the summer, you'll spot nesting birds like avocets and lapwings, while the skies fill with pink-footed geese and wigeons in the winter.
