AOP (Action on Pain)

Action on Pain is run entirely by volunteers who either have chronic pain or are affected by it in one way or another. PainLine, our telephone helpline has developed a reputation of giving advice that is straight and" down to earth" as well as being realistic.

AOP promotes the positive side of living with chronic pain through its range of publications and the information it provides via the website. Our Mobile Information Unit provides a valuable service enabling AOP to meet people affected by pain on a face to face basis with the facility to provide a confidential environment if required.

Our website sees a month-on month increase in unique hits and PainLine has now handled nearly 90000 calls. That we get regular return callers to PainLine perhaps is a good barometer for the success and quality of the support we seek to provide.

All the advice we give is impartial and we try to offer a friendly and personal service. We are not able to provide medical advice as our volunteers are not qualified to do so however we often know "a man who can".
