Supported Living
Our supported living is for adults with complex disabilities. We know how important it is for you to be able to choose where to live, who to live with and what you do every day.
You may want to live on your own or share a place with others. You may need support 24 hours a day or for part of the day, for personal care or making meals.
Individual Support
At Sense, our services for children and adults who are deaf blind or have other complex disabilities are built around the wishes and needs of each individual, providing specialist support exactly where it’s needed – in the home or community.
Our person-centred approach, using total communication, means we can support you as an individual, and your family, in the best way possible.
Individual support for people who are deaf blind
Sense Communicator Guides and Interveners can support people who are deaf blind, their families, carers, and the professionals who work with them.
Sense Communicator Guides
Developing sight and hearing impairments as you get older (known as acquired deaf blindness), can cause you to become increasingly withdrawn, depressed and isolated. But with the right help, you can continue to live a fulfilling life at home and in the community.
A Sense Communicator Guide offers communication support, guiding skills and practical help, such as shopping, dealing with correspondence or setting up medical appointments. Their role is to support you to do the things you want to do, help you to live independently and be an active member of your community.
Sense Interveners
If you are a child or adult born with sight and hearing impairments (known as congenital deaf blindness), a Sense Interveners can help you to experience and join in the world around you as much as possible. The Sense Interveners will work with you, and your family, to develop your communication, support your personal and social development, help you to access education, social and leisure opportunities and encourage you to be as independent as possible.
