St. Peter's C of E Church, Birkdale

We are a church in Birkdale with a strong community focus looking to develop alternative styles of worship whilst retaining regular traditional worship.  We meet regularly outside of Sunday in small groups called cells. We have recently developed a new worship time on Sundays for young people called Zest.

Located at the heart of Birkdale Village, Our Parish Centre is used by a wide range of external Community groups – see list below.

Food bank clients can collect food parcels from the church building on Tuesdays 1-3pm  and Saturdays 10-11:30am. Please speak to Compassion Acts for e-vouchers and other enquiries: www.compassionacts.uk

Several of our community groups continue to meet in the church.

Once covid guidelines allow our buildings will also available for private hire for children’s parties.  For further details, please contact the church office on 01704 550 027

St Peter’s also runs Footprints (for babies/toddlers and their parents/carers, on Thursday mornings at 10am) in the Parish Centre (currently suspended).

Open meetings Monday and Wednesday from 7:45pm meeting in the vestry

Polish language meeting Thursday 6-8pm in the vestry

Closed meeting Friday 6:15-7:45pm in the church

Birkdale and Ainsdale University of the Third Age (U3A): Tuesday  1:00-4:15pm including Keep Fit, Scrabble, Bridge, Art, and Discussion (returning Autumn 2021)

Rhythm Time (music and movement for babies and toddlers): Monday  9:30-1:45pm in the church.

Slimming World: Monday  2:30-6pm in the church (restarted 19th May)

4 sessions run throughout the afternoon and evening

Yoga class: Wednesday  6:00pm (suspended)

Southport Folk Dance Club: Thursday 7:45pm (September-May inclusive) suspended

Monthly activities:

Identity Dads: second Saturday 10-11:30am Play and friendship for children under five and their male carers. Dads, granddads and other male carers welcome. (returns Autumn 2021)

Table top sales: First Saturday mornings. Resume July 2021.

Coffee Morning: Third Wednesday  10:30am-12:00pm (details on the notice sheets or the office 550027). Currently weekly on Zoom. Please contact the office for details.

Circle Dance: second and fourth Wednesday  7:30-8:30pm (suspended)

U3A: Fourth Thursday  2:00pm (suspended)

Southport Stitches: Fourth Saturday  10:00am-4:00pm (suspended)
