Formby High School
Formby High School is a friendly and welcoming community, built on the foundations of aspiration, hard work and respect. Our school motto, ‘Determined to Achieve’ reflects our ambition to ensure all of our students have the opportunity to thrive and are instilled with the confidence and resilience they require to succeed in the modern world.
We take pride in the care given to each child and take time to get to know every student on their journey through school. We recognise building a positive and meaningful partnership between school and home as fundamental to ensuring that your child’s experience of school is both rewarding and memorable. As headteacher, I make no apology for the high standards and expectations of the school. Through a focus on building and sustaining positive relationships we ensure that students behave well and maintain a strong attitude to learning.
Our students’ ambitions and aspirations are nurtured, and their pastoral welfare and personal development are at the core of all we do. At Formby High School, your child will follow a curriculum that is exciting, engaging and tailored to the needs of each individual; a curriculum that allows them to leave with outstanding qualifications and the knowledge and skills required to pursue further study or enter the world of work.
Formby High School has a vibrant Sixth Form where the majority of its Year 11 students return to study A Levels, Level 3 vocational qualifications or a combination of both. In addition, each year students join us from many schools across the borough and beyond. Sixth Form prides itself on its inclusivity, welcoming students from a wide range of backgrounds and encouraging a sense of community, both in terms of supporting one another and working with its partners outside school.
Students at Formby High School also develop a keen sense of their responsibility in shaping a better future for themselves and their community, and are recognised and rewarded for the positive contribution they make. We place great importance on wider curriculum opportunities and encourage students to be involved in the broad range of extra-curricular activities we offer. There is an emphasis on the Creative Arts, with the school having a national reputation for exceptional art, music, drama and dance. In recent years the school has been very proud to be recognised through several prestigious national and local awards, winning ‘Inclusive School of the Year’ at the national TES Schools Awards in 2023.
