Aiming for the Stars with Aiming High

Young people from Sefton with additional needs recently took the yellow brick road to success as they received rave reviews for their theatrical performance of a silver screen classic.

Pulled together by Aiming High, the Aiming for the Stars musical theatre group took part in a live performance of The Wizard of Oz at Litherland High School’s Starry Nights Theatre.

Their performance was one of a number hosted by the Shine Theatre School in Netherton – Aiming High’s young people were very proud to be part of a professional and successful show.

The appreciation for the performance by Aiming High was hard earned, as young people showed great commitment to attend weekly rehearsals with staff from Aiming High, practice in their own time and work with their families to create outstanding outfits.

Praise for their performance included:

“I’m a very proud mum. Thanks for making this happen”

“They were fantastic – I did shed some tears but I loved every minute of it”

“Wow! I cried my eyes out! So proud of my daughter as she has always wanted this”

Not ones to rest on their laurels, their recent success led to Aiming for the Stars being invited to shine in another dance school show. They have also been invited to take in a dance festival at Alton Towers during the school summer holiday.

Aiming High has delivered numerous drama and theatre camps, which are always popular and prove to be a great way to build the confidence of young people with special educational needs and /or disabilities.
